Stainless 304, also known as 18-8 stainless, is the most common steel used in a variety of uses because of the ease in which it can be formed into various shapes. Non-magnetic and highly resistant to corrosion makes it a good all-purpose stainless.
Stainless 309 is an austenitic chromium nickel stainless steel and offers a better corrosion resistance than the type 304 because of higher percentages of nickel and chromium. Suitable for parts requiring both corrosion and heat resistance and oxidation resistance up to 2000 °F. Strength at elevated temperatures is similar to that of 18-8 Stainless Steels. […]
Stainless steel 410 is a basic martensitic grade which contains 11.5% chromium, offering both exceptional wear and corrosion resistance. 410 is generally used for applications which involve mild corrosion, high strength, and heat resistance.
Stainless 422 is a hardenable, martensitic stainless steel with better strength at higher temperatures as high as 1200 F. It is capable of being heat treated to various high strength levels.
